New to the area and looking for some great climbing training. Where are the best MTB and road trails to ride for climbing training. I am from AZ by way of WA, where climbing is a little easier to find than flat, so I'm looking for a good place to get some strength back.

Oh yea, I am looking for friends too. I have a friend survey at Atomicadventure.com, if you make the cut we will be sharing a tent in no time!

(Note: there is no survey at atomicadventure.com, however, I still need friends)

ps: i'm REALLy cool.

These links will get you started on some of the steeper, longer hills via roads in St. Louis:

For off road trails - the toughest climb would probably be on the way up to Matson Hill via the gravel road. But for trails that contain a lot of climbs, I would look at Castlewood, Greensfelder, and Chubb

The thread on STL Biking is full of great road climbs. For off road, I think the Matson gravel is a great one. IF you are looking for technical climbs that would rival the toughest in AZ or WA (not in length but in difficulty keeping your wheel down and rear tire planted) I would go up "Cardiac Hill" in CastleWood, and up the Monkey Heads in Greensfelder. I've only seen a handful of people make it up the Monkey Heads without dabbing and Cardiac Hill is loose, requiring good riding skills as you ascend. Hope this helps

Been doing Matson so often, gonna have to venture down the road and try out that Lakeview Drive hill, since it's relatively close and often mentioned.

Hmm, WA, AZ, now STL. Coincidence, or working for the big B?
