Not quite sure why the Berryman got bumped to the Hall of Fame Epics category. It appears that it still meets all the new criteria:

The 2013 class of Epics celebrates true backcountry riding experiences that are technically and physically challenging, more than 80 percent singletrack and at least 20 miles in length. All of theses Epics offer amazing opportunities to interact with the natural world. Existing Epics that meet this criteria will retain Epic status. We created an IMBA Epics Hall of Fame to recognize rides we have honored in the past, but that no longer meet the new criteria.

Maybe there's grumblings, the hall of fame page is missing.

Berryman is more epic and refined now than it used to be.

Yeah, the link to the hall of fame epics from main story is broken, but you can see all of the deprecations in the second link I posted.

Looks like they don't have their directories straight with "model-trails".

If the Berryman no longer meets the criteria I think it would have to be the technical part of the definition.  When the trail originally got the epic classification it was a very different trail, with some pretty technical parts that have been removed and rerouted because of sustainability.  Most of those sections were technical because of erosion.  I have been saying for years that it is not the same trail that originally got the epic listing.

FWIW - The OTA and USFS are looking into this designation change.  With the new designations the OT and Berryman may qualify for a different classification.  Stay tuned.
