Hey everyone, GORC has volunteered to man the water aid station at Barton Fen for the upcoming OT100.  The race is on 9/6.  Racers will start down south an will have raced for 37 miles by time they get to Barton Fen.  I'm sure they will be in need of refreshment by time they see us.  Our plan is to provide not just water, but all the necessary food so that they can continue their journey.

Anticipated times for the aid station is from 9:30am to 3:30pm.  We will plan to be there between 8:30 and 9:00 to setup.

We have also reserved group site B at Council Bluff for Saturday night.  Everyone is welcome!

Bring your bike for a ride on Sunday.

Hey Bryan, Brian Termaat and I will be the "sweepers" between the start and Checkpoint 2. We'll be sure to stop by for some water at Barton Fen and to let you guys know that the race course is cleared up to where you are at.

I'll plan on being there for the first few hours.

Supporting four riders at the checkpoints, but I will skip the first one and just start\wait at Barton before heading to CP2.

Barton Fen is off Neals Creek Rd.  If you are familiar with getting to the highway 32 and DD trailhead for the Ozark Trail, then you are close.  Drive past DD on 32 going West until you get to Bixby (Stop at the store for a sandwich!).  Take a left on Neals Creek Rd., which is road 79.  Stay on this for a couple miles.  I haven't got confirmation from Jim on whether he wants us at the South or North end of Barton Fen, but I'm guessing we'll be on the South end near the creek crossing.  It will be near the intersection with road 78 that takes off to the right.

Thanks for the help!

See Jim's map (Neals Creek Rd is the location, slightly farther down the road than the pin location):

Hey Bryan, one more update. They are having another couple sweep from the end of Karkagne (CP1 to CP2) so even though Brian T and I will probably tackle some extra trail miles your official sweepers coming through Barton Fen will be named Will and Laura. So when you see them you will be free to close up shop.

Just a reminder that we will be out supporting the OT100 racers this weekend at the North end of Barton Fen.  Disregard my earlier post above, Jim's directions indicate we will be at the North end before the racers jump back on the trail.  If you look at the link above, the pin on Neals Creek Rd. is where you want to go, but just drive another 3/4 of a mile or so.  There will be a circle of big rocks next to the road.  The road has been paved in this area recently as well.

See you there!

Here's a video I put together from our water stop.  Steph's potato stop!  :-)
