May 9th - Saturday - is the Greensfelder Challenge Mountain Bike Race at Greensfelder Park.  DRJ Racing is generous enough to donate the proceeds of this race back to GORC along with donations we receive the day of from the mountain bike community.  St. Louis County Parks also gives us use of the park for all the hard work we do in their parks.

What we need from you is your help in making this a fun, safe event for everyone.  If you would like to come out and help with the following, it would be greatly appreciated.

Early Morning Race Prep - Ride course and finish taping the intersections.  Tape will be preset, just need to make sure everything is still in place.

Course Marshall - Scenic Loop (2 shifts)

9:45am to 11:45am

11:45am to 1:30pm

We like to have someone at the entrance to the Scenic Loop drive for the start and then move down to where Declue crosses the Scenic Loop for the duration.  Then have someone replace them at the start of the Noon races.

Kid's Race is at 11:20.  We need help with following the kiddo's around the course.  Tear down the course marking as well.

End of Race - Course Tear down.  Remove all signs and tape.  Make it look like we were never there.

Food - BBQ and food / drink serving

If you can help with any of this stuff, please let us know either here or show up the morning of the race.  The most important things we want to make sure we have covered are the course marshalls.  If we could get a couple sets of 2 or 3 people to volunteer for that, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

GORC

You are the super seller, Mark!

We will meet on Friday evening to mark the course.  If you are interested in taking an easy lap of the race course, meet at the visitor lot at 5:30pm.  With tape and arrows in hand, we will get the course 95% marked and ready for Saturday.

Thanks,

Bryan

Katherine and Hariett Krajcovic as well as Suzanne Renner will be assisting as well. I believe they let Bob Arnold know.

Mrs. Krackhead, Junior Krackhead, and Suzanne will be scoring.  With Bob's thanks (he's aware).

Anyone for calling out numbers?

Besides Glenn?

OTF's Darla has volunteered "in general", and will report to the GORC area Saturday morning to see where she's needed the most.

I'll be there early, and will do what I can before bringing up the rear of the field in Marathon.

Depending on the kiddos mood I may be there to help out a little.

Yes, I would be interested in helping with serving food, or can be there to help set things up.  depending on how long this event lasts, i may also be available to help with tear down and clean up.

thank you,

rugbygirl

We will meet on Thursday evening to mark the course.  If you are interested in taking an easy lap of the race course, meet at the visitor lot at 5:30pm.

I plan to do the race loop starting at 4:30 for anyone who may be interested.  That should give enough time to be back for the course setup at 5:30.

Yes, Matt is right.  I changed the above post to say we would meet on Friday evening to mark the course.  With the weather forecast, we should know more by then as to whether this will happen or not.  Watch this post and I will confirm whether we are a go for Friday or not.  Thanks!

From Bob Arnold at DRJ Racing:

+++

"Just an update on the Race.   We are keeping an eye on the forecast.   I hate to cancel due to a forecast as many have been burned before on that.   You cannot image the details to completely setup again including: Permits, Insurance, Food, Beer, Volunteers, Free Day, etc.

But we WILL NOT run this if muddy conditions exist.  The fine GORC folks and I will hopefully make the call tomorrow (Friday) by 5PM ish."

Assuming it is on:

What time should volunteers be there for final course prep and early shift marshalling?

If you would like to go out on the final course prep, I would plan on being there around 8:30.  The first race is at 10...I would like the first set of course marshalls in place by 9:45.  So, 9 am would be fine.

We will take a look at the trail this evening and make the call.  I'm still pretty optimistic things will be a go at this point.  It could be optimal conditions for smoothing out some of the rough sections.
