RSVP Now

Please make sure to check the forum and this page to see how the weather affects the trail build

Date: March 12th, 2016 - 9am - 1pm

Location: Greensfelder County Park

What: We will be building new singletrack near where we finished last fall. We'll be reusing the Beulah ridge singletrack and heading north on the other side of the hill. The singletrack will eventually bring you out to the Scenic Overlook. This next section is 1.4 miles long, not including what we are reusing, so we need a lot of help to open this up in a reasonable amount of time. See the map below.

Where: Greensfelder Park, Allenton Rd. behind Six Flags. NOTE: Park at the Beulah Shelter located about a half mile down Scenic Loop Road - the road inside the park. Lunch will be provided at Beulah Shelter.

What to bring: Gloves, Sturdy shoes, eye protection, and something to drink on the trail.

Lunch will be provided by St. Louis County. Please post below If you would like a vegetarian sandwich, please let us know. Please RSVP so the county can order enough lunch.

Like all Spring trail builds, this event is worth two raffle entries for a chance to win the Origin8 Fat Bike donated by Bike Surgeon. You must be a paid member to win so make sure you take care of that situation!

I could be off base, but some friends I brought to the build last weekend were told they didn't get lunch since they hadn't RSVPed.  I had never known that this was an issue in the past.

I saw that a few people had already rsvp'd before I had, but no one had replied to the forum to request lunch as the forum specified. Was just asking if that's normal for no one to get lunch after the build???

It shouldn't happen unless there's a large number that show and the county has no idea and food runs out. Not sure about the rock hollow situation.

The forum post is to ensure enough veg options are purchased. Unless there's a special request, there's no need to post up about food ounces rsvped.

Sorry for the wording confusion. Will try and edit for future clarity.

In the 10+ years that I have been volunteering with GORC, lunch has ALWAYS been provided after a workday.  There have been times when myself (and a couple other more "senior" members) have chosen to skip the lunch, due to our not having enough food for the amount of volunteers that have shown up.

While RSVP'ing is important, the timing of your response is important as well.  Case in point - SCCP's does their workday food shopping Friday morning; letting us know that you are attending at 9:30 Friday night isn't helpful from a food planning standpoint.  SCCP's uses previous workday's "sign ups vs how many people actually showed up" numbers to base our food purchases on, and try to build a little cushion, but there are times when workers will end up with smaller portions than they would have liked.

I do not know what happened at the Rock Hollow build, but the GORC leadership will make some inquiries, and try to pass any useful information along.

You ALL work your butts off while at a workday, so we do try to make sure you are at least fed afterwards.  Thanks again for your help!

Lunches are provided by the STL Co. Not GORC. We try for a head count to help STL get enough food.
However, still not clear on the question. At the very end of the build day, I talked with a gentleman and his son. They were at a picnic bench. I was about to drag off our cooler and I was asked what was in the cooler. I offered a drink and asked if they got lunch. They did not think there were any left as all was packed up. I went over to the paper bag with the Penn Stn. Logo on it, and grabbed them a lunch. There were still some left. So, sorry, but unclear as to why you didn't receive a lunch. And again, if that is even the complaint here? Still very unclear.. : )
