May 1st is the annual GORC fundraiser that is centered around a mountain bike race.  We are very fortunate to partner with the United Federation of Dirt and DRJ Racing to put on this event.  Hopefully this year will turn out better than last and we'll get to have the race.  Our plan is to use the Fossil Ridge trail and new Beulah trail to give the race a fresh face.  Look for a race map on the United Federation of Dirt website and Facebook page.

http://www.unitedind...om/?page_id=632

Now, to the important part of this post.  We need your help in order to make this event a success.  There are several areas we could use volunteers.  The most important of which is some course marshal's. In order to use the above mentioned trails, we are going to have a couple sections of two-way traffic.  I would like to station 1 or 2 people at each of those sections to avoid possible confusion.

Course Marshal's:

10am to Noon

- Location:  Intersection of Fossil Ridge and Deer Run, Intersection of Fossil Ridge and Beulah

Noon to 2pm

- Location:  Intersection of Fossil Ridge and Deer Run, Intersection of Fossil Ridge and Beulah

Please volunteer below for those locations and times if you can.

The other area's we can use volunteers:

- Merchandise/GORC Info Table

- Food/Beverage Helpers

- Kid's Race (Setup/Tear Down/Race Guides)

- Course Tear Down

Please post below if you are able to help so that we can put together a list and schedule.

We will also be doing the course marking on Friday night, April 29th.  We could use help with this as well.  If you would like to help out, please meet us at the Visitor lot at 5:30.  We will take a lap of the course and put up tape and arrows.

Thanks for everyone's help to make this a successful event.

Bryan

I am racing and contributing funds, gotta hold down my last place spot.  If the rain gods approve, that is.  Glad to hear of the inclusion of Fossil Ridge and Beulah, although I may want to cat down -- I was expecting 2 laps of the past course!  Not sure I have the legs for doing both the Beulah climb and the climb out twice.  Ugh.

EDIT:  Are we going left at the radio tower and skipping the back Six Flags stuff?  If so, I think I can make it!

I'll be there. Put me where you need me. I have the First Sunday Ride starting at 3 PM, so we can also ride the race route and pick up everything.

yes, short of the radio tower hang a left on the single track, there is an arrow in the location pointing the way. Pilznr's map attached:

Awesome, yeah, I saw Bryan's Garmin track and thought the mileage looked off if it included everything (just rode everything last Sunday).

This is going to be a fast and fun course!

I'll be there at 8:00 am to help out where needed and then can man one of the 10:00 am Marshal Stations.

If the Marshal positions are filled, put me where you need me.

Hey everyone, just and update for the race...we are still on as of right now.  The weather on Saturday is the big question mark.  Keep an eye here and on Facebook.  We will post if the race is postponed to the rain out date of May 15th.

Thank you to everyone that has volunteered above.  Tentatively, I have the following:

Course Marshal's:

10am to Noon - KevinG & G-Tracker

- Location:  Intersection of Fossil Ridge and Deer Run, Intersection of Fossil Ridge and Beulah

Noon to 2pm - Caleb & ?

- Location:  Intersection of Fossil Ridge and Deer Run, Intersection of Fossil Ridge and Beulah

Kid's Race Helpers - Skibum, JTS, Bulldog

Course Teardown - Skibum & other First Sunday riders

We will not be marking the course tomorrow night.  I would rather not mark the course and have it rained out.  So, my plan is to do it Saturday afternoon after the trail work.  We should know by then if it's going to happen or not.  If you are available, meet us at the Beulah shelter around 1pm and we'll knock it out.

Thanks,

Bryan

Race Course is in awesome shape, dead fall and debris has been thoroughly removed.  One thing of note to all participants--> there are 2-2 way sections on the race loop, The first is at the Declue-Fossil Ridge-Loop Rd intersection and the 2nd at the Fossil Ridge-Buelah merge.

Lets all be adults and practice safe riding and good sportsmanship in these areas, This isn't the NORBA Nationals, slowing down for 100 yards isn't going to hurt anyone. PEACE

The Greensfelder Challenge has been postponed until Sunday May 15th due to all the rainfall - the course is simply too wet.

We don't make this decision lightly BUT we will see you May 15th. Bring your race bike, come hungry, be thirsty and bring your donation monies to keep GORC building trail all year long.

We're hoping all our volunteers can make this date! Let us know if there are any conflicts.
