Thank you to all the hard-working volunteers today! Unfortunately, without any rain for a while it was like digging out concrete.
We successfully widened the uphill Beulah climb, debermed large stretches and massaged a way too-much off-camber section through the rocks. A couple of large loose rocks were removed but - fear not!! --- there are many many more slowly working themselves to the tread surface via mother nature's erosion and settling effect.
The semi-berm turn at the start of the (formerly) narrow tread stretch had a tree removed so now it's ready to be properly bermed in through many tire tracks.
SO THIS LEAD US TO A NEW PROJECT - we finished Beulah but now there's another 1/2 mile to build...
The Scenic Overlook connector trail.
This will connect close to the "split rock" and work its way down the hillside through some fun rockiness, do a 180 and head back to a deep drainage crossing and continue down to the Eagle Valley double track. It will terminate at the junction of Eagle Valley and Northern Green Rock very near the equestrian jumps.
With this connector completed you will find yourself being able to assemble some lengthy figure8 type rides and will have another way to get to the top of the Scenic Loop Road.
We are hoping to knock this connector out of the park by late Spring 2018 (3 builds (or less?)) so we can begin another trail revitalization project.
Again, thank you volunteers!!!! Without you, we'd get nothing accomplished!
