What: The Fall 2017 Matson Hill Trail Build Day

Where: The Matson Hill Park main trail head

(The most straightforward way) from the Highway 40/94 interchange: Take Highway 94 South approximately 13 miles. Go past Defiance to Matson, turn right and follow Matson Hill Rd to the top of the hill. Turn right onto Matson Road (now paved) and go ~ .5 mile to the trailhead, which will be on your left. Click Here for Park location.

If the lot would fill up, parking is available at the Katy Trail Matson Depot at the junction of Hwy 94 and Matson Hill Road.  You can carpool up from there.

When: Saturday, November 11, 2017  from 9:00~1:00.

Why: We will put in two new reroutes on the Matson Hill Loop and also perform much needed maintenance on Oxen Mill through the old cedar trail. Wear good supportive shoes and bring your water, there will be a bit of a hike to get to the work areas.

Got Q's?: Please read the link to pilznr's "What to expect at a Trail Build Day" - http://forum.gorctrails.com/index.php/topic/2265-what-to-expect-at-a-trail-building-day/.  Or, post up here, and we'll do our best to answer things for ya.

Weather: the decision to cancel will be made by SCCP's and posted on the Trail Hotline (636-707-0011, click the programs prompt), so if there is any doubt, please check there before heading out.  We will do our best to update the forum/Twitter, but that will rely upon available cell coverage.

Please RSVP via;

Hey Spot - it will be hard to explain but the main reroute is on the Matson Hill Loop.

If you look at the map it is basically past the cutoff (#2) about 2/3 way to where Oxen Mill meets going CW.

We changed it up a bit today but it should be a good workday.

Not too hot or not too cold  : )

Thanks to those who came out for the workday. We put in a beautiful new trail section.

Special Thanks to the new folks for helping me rototiller, by hand of course : ) , the old trail section.

That was some tough work but it will help it return back to it's natural state.

Hope to see you all at more of the workdays and more importantly, out on the trails.
