It's been over a year and quite a project.
The new paved trails as well as all the natural surface trails will officially open this Friday, May 4th !
St.Louis County Parks and Great Rivers Greenway are having a ribbon cutting at 10:00 am.
Things have changed a bit:
Trail heads to Spring Valley and Bluff Trail now will be accessed from the new paved trail.
There is a really great new parking lot on the left before you start down the hill to the bottom.
If you park here, take the new paved trail 1/4 mi to the trail head of Bluff Trail.
You can hop on the trail from right at the overlook.
There is the brand new section that when completed will flow very nicely down through 4 bermed switchback turns.
This section is open, but is a slow go until we can get it completed.
After the turns section, the already existing technical rocky sections come into play.
Then there is a new section we just finished, it goes through some rock gardens and offer multiple lines.
The trail continues under the new bridge across a bench cut they just put in.
I am hoping to get the transition to this completed in in the next day or so.
If not it may be a very short hike a bike for a little while.
Loop back to the top by the overlook then take the paved trail down and cross the park road, make a right turn and climb up to the Spring Valley Trail.
The trail crossings are rough right now, we plan to armor up to each of them, then they will ride much better.
Please go out and check it all out!!
Keep in mind we have a Build Day planned for Saturday May 19th.
We hope to make headway on the 4 turn section and now maybe fine tune the new bench cut under the bridge.
