We hiked it yesterday and it's almost to the point of being RED for hiking though it will not close to foot traffic.

Two riders had left ruts which is disappointing. We also came upon 2 new riders who were unaware of trail closures to bikes. They were on fat bikes and left deep ruts up to the point they came upon us. I asked about the Trail Closure sign which was not evident enough to be noticed according to the lead rider. I've been wanting to get this sign moved to the back of the wood fence that is blocking the Johnny on the Spot so it can be more noticeable when entering the parking lot and the trail system.

The parking lot was full due to overflow hiking from Lewis and Clark according to speaking with 2 sets of folks. Muddy areas are getting trampled from the foot traffic.

If it remains above freezing during the day plus all of the rain, Matson will not be available to ride for a while now. There were areas on the trail we could see running water due to the drainage from the hills.

Please be cautious when hiking. It would be a bummer to see Matson turn into the same shape as the Lewis and Clark trails..............it's not just horses that cause deep rutted up trails.

There will be a workday this Spring so please stay tuned.
